Use OpenWindow to open or create Bullhorn records

You can use OpenWindow URLs in your custom iframed application to open pages into a Bullhorn "bowling alley" window (frame) just as the standard Bullhorn application does. When users click on an OpenWindow URL link in your application, they are redirected to the appropriate record in a new bowling alley window.

Note: The user’s default browser must be Internet Explorer.

Get the OpenWindow hostname

You can use the Bullhorn REST API to get the hostname for an OpenWindow URL based on the current user's id. The GET /settings/bullhornStaffingHost operation returns the hostname. This call requires OAuth authorization and authentication.

Here is a sample /settings/bullhornStaffingHost call:
Request URI:

GET https://rest.bullhorn.com/rest-services/{corpToken}/settings/bullhornStaffingHost

Response:

{
"bullhornStaffingHost" : "cls5.bullhornstaffing.com"
}

Open existing records

You can use an OpenWindow URL to open existing records for the following entity types:

  • Candidate
  • ClientContact
  • ClientCorporation
  • JobOrder
  • Placement
  • Appointment
  • Task
  • PlacementChangeRequest

Use the following URL structure to open an existing record:

https://{hostname}/BullhornStaffing/OpenWindow.cfm?Entity={entityType}&id={entityId}&view=Overview

Note: The default view type is Overview. The view=Overview parameter is optional.

Add records

You can use an OpenWindow URL to add records for the following entity types:

  • Appointment
  • Note
  • Placement
  • Task

Use the following URL structure to open a blank Add page. Note that the view parameter value is Add.

https://{hostname}/BullhornStaffing/OpenWindow.cfm?Entity={Appointment}&view=Add

Use the following URL structure to open an Add Note page with some fields prepopulated:

https://[cluster].bullhornstaffing.com/BullhornStaffing/OpenWindow.cfm?Entity=Note&personReferenceID={id of Candidate OR ClientContact}&jobOrderReferenceID={id of jobOrder}&placementReferenceID={id of Placement]&action={desired action type}
